Double glazed panels consist of two pieces of glass that are sealed together by a spacer.
These spacers are usually filled with argon gas which is denser than air, thus improving thermal insulation properties.
These spacers come in a range of different sizes in order to suit a variety of different window types. Common spacers include 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 16mm. The largest spacer we can supply is 22mm.
Heat Loss & Gain
The number one benefit of double glazing is its ability to reduce heat loss and gain.
The spacer between the two panels of glass acts as a thermal barrier between your home and the external environment. The double glazed unit keeps the temperature in your home stable because it reduces your heat loss and gain.
Because of these great benefits your home will remain cooler in summer and warmer in winter!
Improves your energy efficiency & helps the environment
Another great benefit of double glazing is it’s ability to reduce the cost of energy bills while also reducing your carbon footprint.
Because the temperature in your house is more controlled, it will reduce your needs to switch on the heating and cooling.
Minimising condensation
Double glazing will significantly reduce condensation. Once installed, there is much improved thermal insulation between the outside and inside and as a result, condensation is greatly reduced, creating a warmer, drier, healthier home
